Research Grab Bag - Grades 5 & 6

Each student will reach into the research bag and choose a slip. The student will have to locate and check out 3 sources that pertain to their topic and then write a one-page paper in which they incorporate and cite those sources. For example, one topic question could be "Who won the first battle of the American Revolutionary War?" The student would then have to find 3 references that they can use to write a paper that answers the question in detail.

Use Cyberbee for help with citations.

Ugly Book Report

Students will choose a book they would not normally choose to checkout. Read the book, and create a cover for the book (please do not remove the existing cover or labels) and write a book report. Please reference this document in case you have lost your copy.

Title:  Holes
Author: Louis Sachar
Genre: Adventure

Stanley can’t stand digging these holes anymore, especially without his only friend Zero. After he is accused of stealing, Stanley is sent to Camp Green Lake. The problem is there’s no lake, it’s just a hot desert that was once a lake. Every day he and the other delinquents dig a hole five feet wide and five feet deep. Soon, his friend Zero runs away, so he runs away, too. Can he find him? Holes tells about the adventures and downfalls of Stanley's journey. I recommend it to people who love adventure.
